Sports Massage

A question I am asked all the time is 'I'm not a sports person and don't do sports, can I have a sports massage?'.  The simple answer to this is YES!  Whether you are an Olympian or sit at a desk most of the day, sports massage is for everyone.  The terminology can be misleading, we are delivering a deep tissue massage to areas of tightness, pain or muscles that have gone into spasm.  All deep tissue treatments are tailored to your needs and the pressure used is whatever you are comfortable with.  The benefits of massage are:

  • Breaking up muscle fibre adhesions
  • Promoting a sense of wellbeing
  • Improves relaxation
  • Minimise muscle tension
  • A higher range of movement
  • Scar tissue improvement
  • Better recovery by raising blood circulation to the affected area
  • Helps keep muscles healthy and promotes healing
  • Injury prevention
  • Pain relief
  • Decrease muscle stiffness and fatigue

Ailments sports massage can help with:

  • Sciatica
  • Upper, lower and mid back pain
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Headaches and Migraines
  • Muscle injury site
  • Neck discomfort

  • Sciatica

  • Any other pain not present before pregnancy

A pre-therapy screening form will be sent to you for completion before treatment and at the first appointment a complete posture analysis will be taken and a treatment plan created to suit your individual needs.

Postnatal Massage

Our Postnatal massage has been designed to aid, ease and help any postnatal pain or symptoms you have been left with.  It does not matter if you are 6 weeks postnatal or 6 years postnatal, if you have suffered pain since giving birth then this is not your norm.  Postural misalignment created when pregnant can create all manner of issues for the body after birth and a 'wonky frame' will create pain when there is load going through it.  If you try to train and get fitness back on a frame that is out of alignment, you will find after a period of time your body will break down.  For those ladies who gave birth via a Caesarean Section, your scar and scar tissue can create problems in your frame so work can be done to help free the connective tissue and scar tissue, making everything move in a better manner.  Healing comes from within so with a good, high protein diet and therapy we can start to get you back to 100% health.

As with the pregnancy massage, a pre-therapy screening form will be sent for you to complete and return before treatment, with a posture analysis taken at the first appointment.

Other medical procedures

For anyone who has had any kind of abdominal surgery (hysterectomy, appendix removal, tumour removal etc.) the scar tissue that has developed will play a major role in how your connective tissue and fascia is functioning.  Massage will help alleviate these adhesions and make everything function better.
